THE RETURN OF THE ADIDAS OG NMD

OG NMD Release at Afew in Düsseldorf

2016 was definitely the year of the Adidas NMD over every other sneaker model. Mostly because of the well known comfort of the Boost technology and because of the variety and number of models released: R1, R1 Primeknit, CS1, XR1 and R2. Its OG Colorway, however, was released on December 2015. More than a year later, this 14 of January, they were re-released after long speculations of an end of 2016 drop.

This model is characterized by its color simplicity: first, black and white, Black on the Primeknit and white on the boost, and second, red (Lush red) and blue on its blocks, wich combination is done perfectly.

This reasons made these shoe one of the most wanted NMDs pairs of all, with also one of the highest resell prices (Around a 1000 $ on Stadium Goods and Flight Club (*) and just beneath the F&F Human Race by Pharrell, the Green Camo Bapes, the NYC “Red Apple”, the Pitch Blacks and the F&F OGs).

Differences between this and the 2015 pair are short: the small grey stripes on the sock of the 2015 NMD are replaced by black ones and… the box: in 2015 they got a regular blue and white Adidas Originals box and this year the made a new all black one.

Although the wider availability of this years release, the hype built around the OG made it a non easily shoe to cop.

I personally tried it on Friday night on a few german websites (43einhalb, Thegoodwillout and Asphaltgold), but they all crashed as always. I seemed to have been lucky on the website of the danish retailer Rezet, were I got the shoe in my size on my cart, but at the end it failed on the payment.

On saturday I tried it also Instore at Afew Store in Düsseldorf, where temperature was about 0 degrees, so imagine waiting four plus hours in front of the store. I was two and half hours earlier there and I was the number 25 on the list that we made, so I thought I would get the shoe. But I failed again because apparently there was a list already from the day before… Regardless I had a lot of fun (Afew is expanding its store, so they got a big container as temporary sneakershop, wich made the release in some way different) and I met plenty of other sneaker-enthusiastics.

Here I leave a few shots from the morning. Hope you enjoy.
